People × Work · RESUME GUIDE
No formal experience? Start with work you have actually done
A first resume does not need invented experience. It needs clear examples of useful work, responsibility, and skills that an employer can understand.
3 MIN READList real responsibilities
Think about tasks you have completed regularly: serving customers, handling cash, preparing food, caring for a child or older person, arranging deliveries, keeping records, cleaning, repairing, or organising an event.
Add context
Say where the work happened, how often you did it, who depended on you, and what tools or methods you used. Specific details make informal experience easier to evaluate.
Name the skill shown
Connect each example to a useful skill such as reliability, customer service, time management, safe driving, basic bookkeeping, communication, or attention to detail.
Keep every claim honest
Do not create a job title, certificate, or length of experience you cannot explain. A simple honest example is stronger than an impressive claim that fails during an interview.
