Food × Origin · INGREDIENT EXPLAINER
Pili is rooted in Bicol. The product details come next.
Pili is closely associated with the Bicol Region and has a strong Philippine identity. That story opens the conversation—but a buyer still needs to know exactly what product is being offered and whether it can be supplied consistently.
4 MIN READBegin with the product form
Ask whether the offer is whole fruit, in-shell nut, raw or dried kernel, roasted kernel, flavoured snack, confectionery, pulp oil, or another processed product. Each form has different buyers, handling needs, shelf life, and pricing.
Record origin and processing separately
Name the farm, municipality, province, processor, and production site where possible. Then document how the pili was harvested, shelled, dried, roasted, flavoured, stored, and packed. A Bicol origin does not by itself describe the finished product.
Turn a sample into comparable information
For every sample, record net weight, ingredient list, allergen declaration, production or lot date, best-before date, storage instructions, packaging material, and whether the sample matches the product available for wholesale.
Check whether supply can continue
Ask for current price, minimum order, normal monthly capacity, lead time, seasonal availability, delivery terms, and sample cost. Request only documents relevant to the offered product and market, such as business registration, FDA authorisations, laboratory results, GMP or HACCP records, and export experience.
- Do not describe a certificate as current until its validity has been checked.
- Do not assume a retail-ready pack is also export-ready.
- Keep the supplier's own claims separate from facts independently verified by Tuklio.
